Buddhism is a religion that is currently followed by 300 million people around the world. It was founded about 2,500 years ago by Siddhartha Gautama (later known as Buddha) when he became enlightened at the age of 35. Siddhartha Gotama was born into a royal family in Lumbini, now located in Nepal, in 563 BC. At 29, he realized that wealth and luxury did not guarantee happiness, so he went to find a way to happiness and after six years of study and meditation he finally found 'the middle path' and was enlightened. And the core teachings of Buddhism fall under the Four Noble Truths and The Eight Fold Path. There are also the 5 precepts which is the moral code within Buddhism.
